In my work, I have long been devoted to the theme of death, which I often symbolize through the motif of dead birds. I strive to portray death in a reconciliatory spirit – as a natural part of life, as it always has been and always will be. Lately, I have been especially interested in the relationship between humans and death – its discovery, acceptance, and transience.
In the piece Zvědavost (Curiosity), a little girl curiously examines two dead birds. This moment may represent a first encounter with death – a confrontation of a child’s innocent mind with bodies from which life has departed, and with the unknown they carry within.
